Calling all Teens!

Interested in what goes on behind the scenes at the Zoo?

Join our team and become a teen volunteer! We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic teens between 14 and 18 years to join our Junior Curator Program. Selected teens volunteer with keepers and staff to see what it takes to run the zoo and inspire the next generation.

View frequently asked questions as well as the JC application for details regarding this commitment. Below is a brief description of the selection process:

  1. Complete and return an application by the June 15th deadline.
  2. Attend the mandatory group interview – Tuesday, June 22nd, 6-9pm in the Education Center.  Please eat before you come. We will not be serving food.
  3. Attend a mandatory individual interview – July dates and times will be posted during June 22nd interview.  Please bring your calendar with you.  If you  are unable to attend June 22nd, please call 425-0218 to schedule your individual interview for July.
  4. Notifications will be mailed to applicants in August.
  5. Students accepted into the Junior Curator program will begin in September.

Junior Curators are selected once a year. Prospective volunteers and their parents may attend an open house and meeting on May 18 or June 8, 6:00 – 8:00 pm in the Rosser Conservation Education Center. Applications will be available May 15 – June 15 on this webpage or at Guest Relations. For questions, please contact the zoo’s Volunteer Coordinator at (450) 425-0275.
