Get Ready and Draw!
What better place to explore and expand your artistic creativity than the Oklahoma City Zoo? Join local artist, Lance Kelly, on a journey to learn to draw animals. This series of art classes will give you the opportunity to see the zoo’s unique animals unlike you’ve seen them before. If you like to draw and you like the OKC Zoo, then this class is for you! 

After an explanation of basic drawing concepts (15 minutes), we will walk to zoo exhibits and do a live sketch (40 minutes). Upon return to the classroom, focus will be placed upon completing the drawing (35 minutes).

Ages:  7 and up welcome. 
Time:  10:00 – 11:30 am 
Dates  Aug 27 - Southern Three Banded Armadillo, Sept 25 - Grizzly Bear, Oct 23 - Bison, Nov 13
Costs:  $20 per class.  Each additional immediate family member, $5
Supplies:  Pencil and paper provided.  
Location:  Education Building 
Optional:  Students are encouraged to bring a digital camera to capture images of subject for drawing practice at home.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

  1. Cancellations must be in writing—no phone or email cancellations will be accepted. Mail to: Education Department, OKC Zoo, 2101 NE 50th, OKC, OK 73111.
  2. No refunds for cancellations made less than 7 days prior to program start date.
  3. Classes are transferable to children in the same age group; however a 20% service charge will apply for any changes in the original registration.
  4. The Zoo reserves the right to cancel classes if registration is below our required minimum.
